 Logic 101: An Introduction to Logic Express 9 and Logic Pro 9
All things to all musicians

This three-day hands-on course introduces students to the primary features and basic user interface of Logic Pro. Students learn how to generate a customized audio and MIDI configuration that will seamlessly integrate with their own personal production studio. Students also create their own song using Logic Pro’s comprehensive array of software instruments, Apple Loops and DSP effects. In-depth lessons will cover MIDI and audio recording, streamlined editing and arrangement techniques, user defined key commands, automation, scoring to picture and surround mixing. A special troubleshooting section helps students to set up and optimize a Logic system effectively.

This class is designed for those who want to learn music production and composition using Logic Pro or Logic Express and who prefer hands-on and interactive instruction to best explore its functionality.

Certification

This course covers the partial requirements necessary to successfully become an Apple Certified Pro, Level 1 in Logic Pro

Prerequisites

Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending this course:

  • Basic knowledge of Mac OS X
  • Basic knowledge of audio terminology is recommended

Apple Pro Certification Level One Exam available for this course.

 Logic 102: Introduction to Logic Express 9 and Logic Pro 9, Prime Time

This course is the Logic 101 course offered as eight three-hour seminar sessions, allowing working professionals to take the course without interrupting their busy schedules.

 Logic 301: Advanced Music Production in LogicTM Pro 9

This three-day course teaches invaluable real-world techniques for music production and editing, mixing, notation, and scoring to picture with Logic. Throughout the class, students learn numerous professional secrets for streamlining production workflows and constructing a mix to meet the most exacting standards. Experienced Logic users and newcomers alike will find invaluable methods for manipulating tempo and pitch, fine-tuning audio and MIDI tracks, processing MIDI data, managing signal flow, assigning physical controllers, and getting the most out of Logic’s revolutionary software instruments.

  • Designing sound with Sculpture
  • Advanced MIDI editing


Who should attend?

This class is designed for those who already have a working knowledge of Logic Pro. Beginning Logic users should take the Logic 101 or Logic 102 course. The course is best suited for those who prefer hands-on, interactive instruction to explore the full functionality of Logic Pro. Please note that this course does not cover all lessons in the book, but it does completely prepare students to pass the Logic Pro 9 Level Two exam. Students are free to complete the lessons not covered in the course on their own.

Prerequisites

Students should have the following prerequisite knowledge prior to attending the course:

  • Basic knowledge of Mac OS X
  • Basic knowledge of audio terminology is required.
  • Level One Logic Pro 9 End User certification is required before you can earn Level Two Logic Pro 9 End User certification. Ideally, students will have attended a Logic 101 or Logic 102 course.
