Brent Heber
Brent Heber is an industry respected Pro Tools trainer, having spent the last 7 years working for Avid Digidesign as their local Product Specialist and Pro Audio Applications Engineer – the public face of Pro Tools. His extremely deep understanding of Pro Tools systems is hard to replicate without years working for the manufacturer!
After liaising with the best and brightest of the Australian and New Zealand pro audio industries for so many years, Brent has a wealth of expertise and understanding of how the industry works and the key differences between the film, TV, radio, music and games sectors. He’s also one of the most academically accomplished working engineers in the country, with his Masters Degree in Design Science (Audio), the Tonmeister classical music award, in addition to being one of the only people in the world to have completed all 300 level Expert qualifications (ICON mixer, Post- Production and Music) from Avid Digidesign.
Within the fold of Pro Tools knowledge, Brent’s passion is foremost mixing and automation on the ICON surfaces. He also shares this knowledge through his blog, www.protoolsprofessional.com widely followed for its extremely deep focus on the HD automation engine, complex topics of interest to the pro industry and advice on how to make get the most from your DAW when you rely on it for a living.
Brent is also a multi-skilled musician playing guitar and piano. He studied Opera as a bass baritone and has been composing and producing since his teenage years. His industry experience is mostly sound design and mixing based, however he also has many ads, pilots, shorts, docos and feature film credits to his name. Brent currently owns and operates a mixing facility on the Fox lot in Moore Park.
Brendan Lloyd
Brendan Lloyd is an electronic and acoustic audio/visual arts specialist. He has recorded and mixed many Sydney artists and worked as a mixer on numerous films.
Brendan's expertise in digital audio technology is displayed in his teaching- his aptitude for Pro Tools, great problem solving skills, his willingness to help others and his ability to explain and communicate concepts in practical ways has fuelled his reputation as one of the most capable instructors in the country.
Brendan developed a great reputation by performing, supporting and running various events around Sydney and NSW. As the head technical producer of Disorientation, a regular audio/visual arts night featuring high profile artists from all over Australia and the globe, he then went on to become a technical producer of Electrofringe (2005) and the head technical producer for Liquid Architecture (2005). More recent credits include The Line of Lode and Death of Charlie Day (2009).
Today Brendan is the Sound Studios manager at UTS and manages the Bon Marche studio, a multi-purpose live performance television studio, gallery and screening space. He also teaches technical production to a broad range of UTS students and mentors student productions.
